Created by Maxim Zhestkov in 2008 in collaboration with director Noah Harris, Blink Production, and Ogilvy Advertising London, this video was used in the ad of Ford Fiesta. The campaign was called Zeitgeist / This is now, and was centered around the topic of ‘spirit of the times’.
Several artists were chosen to take part in the project—their films were featured on the screens which drove through the streets to form the car in the end.
In this film, Maxim chose a minimalistic approach with rationalistic use of color and light. Abstract shapes, featured in the video, were treated like architectural structures, filled with light and shadow. Bright colors were only a subsidiary tool used to highlight several moments of the film.
Given the full creative freedom, Maxim created a film that was based purely on his vision—the video was accepted without any comments from the client. This absence of limitations helped to make a memorable project that was widely accepted and won the gold award at EACA Euro Effies 2010 in the Automotive category.
