An art film by our studio's co-founder and director Maxim Zhestkov, exploring the juxtaposition of the outside and the inside.
Layers is the fourth in the series that Maxim launched in 2017 with Elements and, unlike the rest, does not feature complex systems and their relationships but rather seemingly simple monuments that uncover their essence during the film.
Computer-generated dark and brutal geometric monoliths are dissected by invisible 3D objects to reveal the layers of the colorful and emotionally vibrant inner structures. At the intersections of the shapes, we encounter complex structures which could be perceived as 3D representations of objects within a 4D universe.
Layers became a foundation for several large projects and, among other places, was exhibited in public spaces in New York, on a modern art festival in Shanghai and on a digital art festival in Brazil, having traveled across the world to inspire people.
