Enhancing its visual strategy with a focus on elevated, imaginative representations based on shopping possibilities on its platform, Pinterest invited us to collaborate on the launch of the new evergreen direction.
To explore how the brand communicates through photorealistic 3D imagery, we developed a series of visualizations that chart the course for the next phase of Pinterest’s identity.
In early 2024, Pinterest was evolving their visual language, featuring their annual color palette and and unexpected twists on photo-real imagery based on emerging Pinterest trends. Pinterest identified key areas of focus: Travel, Home, and Fashion.
For each of these categories, we crafted photorealistic 3D visualizations, blending familiar objects with current trends and playful animations. These personalized creations aim to reflect the core concept of user interaction on the platform—where one might start with a standard, shoppable idea and leave with a fresh, tailored inspiration.
One of our main challenges was achieving a balance between the real world and imaginative objects while maintaining photorealism, without veering into overly abstract or exaggerated territory.
To address this, we carefully nuanced the playfulness of the characters, giving each a distinct personality through animation, while the use of texture, color, and form brought the objects closer to the physical world.
