Outlining the pulsation of sound

Creating the wireless experience, PlayStation released the Pulse 3D headphones, specially tuned to deliver three-dimensional sound by the PS consoles.

Our team was invited to artistically explore this new technology and create a visual audio interpretation.

Powered by Tempest 3D AudioTech, the presented headphones immerse you into the center of incredible soundscapes as if audio surrounds you from every direction. To imagine this particular feature, we started with various explorations to capture the sound itself and then put it in the seamless headset universe.

The representation of intangible matter has always been one of the most intriguing creative challenges for us. After examining how sound travels through space, we created several variations of this effect that emphasize its all-filling strength and multi-dimensionality.

Based on the physical description, a sound wave spreads in an elastic medium, alternating compression and rarefaction. Experiments with this behavior in three-dimensional reality allowed us to obtain a volumetric sound movement embodied in different forms and patterns.
